Life Philosophy: Health, Wealth, Family, Fun!
Guitar, Bass, Keyboards, Tuba, songwriter, midi composer, graphic artist, programmer, entrepreneur, husband and father. Born and raised in Brooklyn NY … (You got a problem wit dat?)
My musical journey began in Jr. High School playing Trombone in the school orchestra.
I switched to classical Tuba in High School & College, was accepted as an ALL CITY first seat performer. With the New York City ALL CITY Ensemble I played on prestigious stages throughout New York including; Carnegie Hall, the Met, Mayors Office, Macys Thanksgiving Parade and various city wide concerts. I was in the Jazz band, Classical Brass Ensembles, Dixieland Bands, Orchestra, and Broadway Show Bands. Played every type of music from Bernstein, Bach, Beethoven, Handel and Gershwin.
Decided to play bass and guitar because the girls didn’t go for tuba players. Spent several years playing in various bands including; Rock, Blues, County, avant-garde Jazz, and The Famous Cy Cogan Wedding Orch. I studied composition, classical and Jazz at the acclaimed Brooklyn Academy of Music.
I always wanted to be a songwriter when I grow up.
While other kids collected baseball cards, I collected records. My heroes were Gershwin, Berlin, Rodger & Hammerstein, Lennon & McCartney, Elton & Tupin, Webb, Croce, Goffin & King, and of course Paul Simon. Songs are the sound track of my life. They are a diary and my escape for the daily day to day grind.
I began songwriting having been influenced by the Beatles, Paul Simon, Jim Croce, and others, and to date have written thousands of songs … some are good. I have published several songs, and had several placed with artists with radio play.
I am a member of BMI. I currently teach the art of songwriting and host the Songwriters Workshop TV on Access 23 TV. I also teach guitar and bass at Z-Music store in Palm Coast.
Moved to Milford PA in 1999 and have been performing locally with the bands; CIA, U4EA, Sue and the Blind, as well as with Solo and Duo projects. I am currently performing with the Rock Docs Band.
I moved to Palm Coast Florida in 2014 and have been performing locally with the bands: Jezebel’s Tattoo, Southern Chaos, Beach Street A-Go-Go, Crash! Boom! Pow!, Divided Highway, Soul Fire, Ring of Fire Tribute to Johnny Cash, and Hot Stuff Tribute to Donna Summer and Disco Divas.
I volunteer my time and talents to performing at local Rest Homes, and Rehabilitation Centers regularly. I get back much more than I give by putting smiles on the faces of the old, sick, and needy.
Now I am in my mid-fifties, and come realize that time is ticking away, so I decided to devote some time to producing my originals the best I can in my home studio. I try to get them to sound as close to what I hear in my head, (but in my head … I sing better).
This is a on-going project, and I will be adding more songs as time goes by so please stop back from time to time. I hope you enjoy them …
Maybe someday I will grow up …
